Google Classrooms are up and running!

A big thank you to parents and students for being so amazing this week!  Google Classrooms are up and running and our first Google Meet was a huge success. Seeing those beautiful smiles, as friends re-connected after time spent apart, made today a very special one for me. I look forward to re-connecting with those who where unable to make it today, in the weeks ahead.

For updated resources and your child's weekly learning plans please refer to their Google Classroom.

Kind regards,

Sarah Dennis

Hello kindergarten, Monday March 30th

Parents, by now you will have received an email from me. As we work towards rolling out the new delivery of ongoing kindergarten learning for all our students, please enjoy a few pictures and posts on our classroom blog.

Hello kindergarten,

I hope you had a lovely spring break holiday with your families. I enjoyed spending lots of time outdoors with my family. We went for lots of long walks, played in the snow and even made a tree fort.

Thank you to parents and students for sending in some lovely pictures.

Brielle has been doing some cave exploration!  How adventurous.

Kaydan built a habitat for a seal!  How creative.

Emma has been enjoying the fresh air and looking for signs of spring.
A lady bug and some green grass!  A sign of good luck.

I have been thinking about you all.  I haven't forgotten that some of you celebrated a special birthday since we have been apart.  A big happy birthday shout out to our kindergarten friends who are now 6 years old.

Happy Birthday Arjun                                Happy Birthday Ashton

Happy Birthday Brielle                                   Happy Birthday Jace
A happy birthday shout out to PM kindergarten Jace who turned 6th on March 28th

Our kindergarten learning is going to look a little different for the next little while. You will be doing lots of playing, creating and learning with your family. Part of your day will also include doing some very important kindergarten work. To do your very best kindergarten work, you will need to find a special learning spot. This should be a quiet spot in your home where you can sit and do some reading, writing and math. Your learning spot might be a spot at your kitchen table, dinning table or a small desk.  I wonder what your learning spot looks like?

Hi kindergarten!  This is my learning spot!
Hi Julian.  Looks like you have a great learning spot.  I spy some pokemon cards on the side:)
Julian loves pokemon!

Hello kindergarten

Hello kindergarten,

I am thinking of you all and wishing you a fun and safe spring break.

Parents,  the kindergarten team at New Brighton continues to wait for updates and directions from CBE for our next steps in terms of continuing our kindergarten learning after the spring break. We will update you as information comes in. In the meantime, the CBE has shared the following link with all families that provides a list of resources that you can access from home:

Don't forget, all students can login to Raz-kids, so they can continue to enjoy some online reading.

I look forward to blogging again after spring break. Please stay in touch and feel free to contact me by email if you have any questions. If students would like to share stories, pictures or photos of their time spent with family this spring break, please email them to me and I will share them on this blog for classmates to enjoy.  Don't forget kindergarten, Mrs. Dennis loves labels.

Have a wonderful spring break.
Stay safe and be well:)

Kind regards,

Mrs. Dennis

Week of March 16th

Hello kindergarten,

It has been a very quiet week at the school without you!  I am thinking of you all and hoping that you are enjoying this extra time spent at home with your families.

Did you know, tomorrow is the first day of spring! It sure doesn't feel like it with all that snow still on the ground but it won't be too long before we see some signs of spring.

Kind regards,
Mrs Dennis

Today's Amazing Rock Stars

AM: Fred

Fred enjoys many activities in his community.  He loves to play on snow mountain after school with his friends and he helps is neighbours shovel snow and chip ice in the winter..  He uses two special shovels to dig and build. Classmates enjoyed exploring these tools! Fred participates in a variety of activities including swimming and gymnastics. Thank you Fred for demonstrating your "window sit" gymnastics move.  Great Job.

PM: Gracie
Congratulations to PM Rock Star Gracie.  Thank you for sharing your super cool skating helmet with PM kindergarten.  Gracie belongs to a skating club and has skated for a long time.  She is able to jump and even do twirls.  She falls down every time but she never quits!  Great job Gracie.  Gracie has earned many stickers on her helmet for a job well done on the ice.  So fun!
AM Table Time: Fine Motor Fun
Students chose a dry erase print formation, number formation or how to draw a person templates.

AM Learning Job
Students finished the last page in their animal investigations information booklet. Drawing pictures, labelling and writing words to give their reader information about interesting animal facts.

Today's Amazing Rock Stars

AM: Willa
Willa shared that she belongs to several dance groups including ballet, tap and jazz!  Classmates were interested to see her ballet slippers and beautiful dance group photo.  Willa demonstrated a twirl and a curtsey for her classmates.  Great job Rock Star Willa.

PM Rock Star Lincoln enjoyed all of his Rock Star jobs. Lincoln already spoke about the groups he belongs to, so today he chose to share his special rock collection and very cool snake skin.  Lincoln taught his classmates the names of some of his favourite rocks, including rose quartz and crystal. Students asked lots of questions and shared many complements. Lincoln also shared a very special lock and key that the Leprechaun left for him last St. Patricks day.  He is getting excited to see what the Leprechaun leaves for him this year.

AM kindergarten enjoyed Music and Physical Education today.  Students also worked on their diorama habitats making sure their animals had enough food and fresh water.  Students also worked on their math problem solving skills using white boards.  Today's challenge, can you draw more than or less than a given number (as rolled on the giant dice)
