Helping others: Veterans Food Drive

Welcome back to another week of learning and fun.

AM kindergarten started their day with table time rotations.

Table One: Spooky patterns

Table Two: How many eyes does your monster have?

Table Three: Story sequence and colour-by-number haunted house

Table Four: Picture sequencing: Life cycle of a pumpkin

PM Kindergarten started their day a little differently. All students worked on the picture sequence and life cycle of a pumpkin. After watching a brief instructional video on the life cycle of a pumpkin, students worked to put their pictures into the right order. This mini pumpkin life cycle book went home with students in their backpacks to share with you.

AM and PM kindergarten enjoyed PE with Ms. Nanavaty. AM kindergarten enjoyed a trip to the library. (PM kindergarten are scheduled to go on Wednesday).

Kindergarten students are exploring the problem of what to do if people do not have enough food. We have been discussing different ways of helping others. With Remembrance day coming up, kindergarten students are excited to be leading the Veterans Food Bank Drive. Today students started to sort items that are appropriate to collect in our donation boxes. Each class is creating posters which will be shared throughout the school to encourage donations within the school community.

Who is a Veteran?  What can we do to help a Veteran who might be hungry?

AM Kindergarten
Jax: A Veteran is people who take care of Calgary
Willa:  I live in Calgary
Emma:  A Veteran is a person that helps you.
Maguire: A Verteran is somebody who helps Canada
Sarim:  A Veteran can take food in the truck if they are hungry

PM Kindergarten
Zack: A Veteran might need food to eat especially if they are homeless.
Ashton: A Veteran is someone who helps people
Akbar: A Veteran is the police.
Maisie: Some Veterans are young and some are old. Veterans help people.
Zack:  Our posters will tell people to give the Veterans some food.

Let's work together to solve a problem!
