Students worked in their blue writing journal today. Students choose to draw and write about one of last week's animals, the snowshoe hare or the owl. Kindergarten writing is a developmental process, each student is progressing at their own pace. Kindergarten writing looks like ....

labelling using accurate beginning (middle, end) letter sounds,
writing recognizable words
writing multiple words without spaces
beginning to segment words using finger spacing
copying words/environmental print with increasing accuracy
for some beginning to include signs of punctuation in written work (periods and upper case)

Wednesday Jan 28th: Decade Dress Up Day / (Kindergarten alternative: Colour dress up day): students are invited to dress up in the style of a favourite decade / or dress up in their favourite colour(s).
Friday Jan 31st: Non Instructions Day - no school for AM or PM kindergarten.
