Monday Oct. 21: Printing Like a Pro: Ff

Welcome back kindergarten friends. In our community sharing circles, we continue to explore what makes each one of us unique and special by sharing stories about ourselves. Today students were asked to share a talent or favourite activity:  "  I love to ..." Students enjoyed acting out their activity and guessing the interests of others.

                   

Table time rotations for Monday Oct. 21 - Thursday Oct. 17th:  Patterns, patterns and more patterns. Kindergarten students have been working towards replicating, extending and creating patterns. Table time learning activities this week will focus on reinforcing this important mathematical skill.

Table One: Creating a pattern using stamps

Table Three: Creating a pattern using blocks, draw your pattern

Table Four: Creating a pattern using loose parts

Letter of the week Ff /f/.  

Have fun searching for objects that start with the letter Ff around the house with your child.  Students love to point out the letter Ff in print material when they see it so be sure to spend a little time searching for this weeks letter during story time.

Congratulations to the Rock stars of the day:  Poppy AM Kindergarten and Jace PM Kindergarten

Poppy did not bring in a show and tell today, but she did have the opportuity to talk to her friends and tell them about some of her favourite activities. " My favourite activities is playing with Willa.  I like to play barbies, we like to watch shows". Poppy answered many questions and enjoyed doing all the special rock star jobs.

Jace, thank you for sharing something special about yourself with PM kindergarten.  Students learned that Jace enjoys riding his bike and wearing his super cool motorcycle helmet.  His bike even has noise makers on the tires so it sounds like a real motorcycle.  Jace also brought in his special stuffy,  "Butchy", that he has had since he was a baby.  Jace received lots of complements on his shiny green bike and answered many questions.  Thank you Rock Star Jace.

The K-team rotated big play centers, so the room was new and exciting today.  Ask your child which new center they are looking forward to trying out soon: puppet theatre, light stands, painting

Parent Reminders:

• Friday Oct. 25th PM kindergarten attends.  PM's turn to go leaf hunting and visit the local playground. Please dress your child for an outdoor adventure.

• Halloween celebrations for AM and PM: please refer to New Brighton admin message that is emailed out to all parents on Friday for  more details.
• Thursday Oct. 31st AM Halloween celebration  8:10 - 11:45 (students are welcome to dress up in costumes or wear their pajamas to school). 
• Wednesday Oct. 30th PM Halloween celebration  (students are welcome to dress up in costumes or wear their pajamas to school)

Scholastic book orders going home this week.   Due date for online orders will be October 27, 2019. 

** AM Kindergarten  went to library today.  Students who returned 2 books were able to check out 2 new books.  Thank you.
