Thankful Thursday

It was another great day in Kindergarten.  Students were excited to greet friends and welcome another day of learning.  After table time rotations students joined together for a shared online reading of Todd Parr's, The Thankful Book,

Students worked in their visual journal to draw and label a picture of their family. In Kindergarten we use pictures to share our ideas. Adding details, such as colours that make sense, helps my reader understand what my picture is saying. Labelling with beginning letter sounds, writing familiar names and copying environmental print is a great way to begin adding print to further define ideas.

AM student work

Congratulations to today's Rock Stars. Maguire (AM) and Brayden (PM)
Maguire shared one of his favourite activities with his classmates, " I like to play with my Pokemon binder".  Maguire couldn't find his binder so he brought in another favourite past time ,"my dragon book".  Maguire was very careful in selecting pictures from his book that were suitable for all his classmates to view.  Maguire explained power levels and how to tell if the characters are shorter or taller  than a human.  Classmates were very interested and asked many eager questions.
Brayden shared one of his favourite activities with his classmates, "I like playing with Pokemon and having battles and I like flipping the coin because its fun".  Brayden loves all Pokemon but choose to  draw three special ones. What a great picture!  Thank you Brayden for sharing something special and for bringing in some of your trading cards to show PM Kindergarten. Students enjoyed viewing the cards under the document camera, offered many complements and asked some great questions.

Parent reminder:  No school on Friday or Monday.

Enjoy the long weekend.
