AM Kindergarten would like to wish Maguire a very happy 6th Birthday.  

Table One:  Exploring Weight.

I can compare two objects based on the attribute of weight.

I can use an efficient pencil grasp to form my letters.  I can sound out letters in words.

Table Three:  Colour by Number

I can recognize numerals to 10. I can read my colour words.

Thank you Jaxen for sharing your special hockey book, The Masked Man. AM students enjoyed learning all about the first goalie to wear a face mask. Thank you for sharing your love of hockey with your AM friends.

PM Rock Star Brayden also shares a love of hockey.  Thank you Brayden for sharing your fun, The Hockey Song book.  Students enjoyed reading along and listening to an online sung version of the song. Brayden shared that his favourite hockey team is Edmonton Oilers!

AM/PM learning job:  Math Problem Solving Challenge #3

Students were faced with the challenge of drawing classroom objects considered light enough to carry and objects considered too heavy to carry.  Students represented their ideas and understanding of weight using pictures, labels and conversations with the teacher.

This sample of student work will be assessed and sent home with your child so keep an eye out in student back packs tomorrow.

Informational Writing: In the winter

As this is the end of this writing unit/cycle,  this sample of student work with be assessed and sent home in your child's backpack by the end of the week.  Have fun reviewing your child's piece of writing together and celebrating their success in adding details, labels and environmental print. It is so exciting to see students exploring with letters and print to expand on their ideas.

- Friday January 24th - AM kindergarten attends (no school for PM kindergarten). We are planning a wonder walk around the school grounds if the weather co-operates.  Please plan for an extended outdoor recess on this day.
