Fall is here.

Table Time

Ask your child which table they worked at today?

After viewing an online book, Goodbye Summer Hello Autumn, students discussed the seasonal changes that they are starting to notice.

AM reflections:

Jax: Leaves turn red and yellow in the fall.
Kaydan - some stick insects hide with the other sticks
Ekamveer- green, yellow
Sarim - red
Poppy - some leaves are green and some are yellow.

PM reflections:

Seth: I saw yellow like the sun, leaves changing colours to orange, green and red.
Maisie: Trees turn colours and there are some little brown leaves on some of the trees.
Robbie:  The leaves are changing colours.
Hassen:  The sun is as bright as slime.
Ashton: Some branches have space because the leaves are falling.
Layla: Some leaves get dead.

To celebrate the arrival of fall, we took a short "wonder walk" around the perimeter of our school.  Students were asked to looks for signs of fall as well as road signs and community signs that help to keep us safe in our community.

AM:  observations and reflections

Ayan:  I saw rectangle green sign with words on it.

Fred:  I saw a tree with lots and lots of yellow leaves.

Maguire:  I saw red trees.

Sarim:  I saw a rectangle with words on it.

Kadan:  I saw yellow leaves and dead trees.

Emma:  I saw purple leaves.

Julian:  I saw a triangle sign.

PM: observations and reflections

Layla:  I saw the leaves.  I really like leaves and people.

Emalyn:  I noticed the leaves are turning because it almost winter.  I saw a stop sign.

Brielle:  I noticed the leaves are so beautiful and I love them.

Seth:  I saw signs but someone didn't listen, literally. It was a yellow sign.

Hassen:  I saw signs of fall, there was a tree about to turn yellow.

We tied a ribbon around one very special tree. This tree will be "Our Kindergarten Tree".  We will visit our tree throughout the school year.  Our Tree will teach us a lot about seasonal changes.

PM Kindergarten

Students reviewed the lines we have covered so far.  To show their understanding of lines students worked in their visual journal for the first time.  Students used black markers to draw a variety of lines: straight, broken, wavy, curvy, spiral and of course fancy free. To finish their line art, students painted a rainbow wash of paint over top.  Beautiful!

(I look forward to doing this work with PM Kindergarten in the days ahead)

AM Line Art

PM Kindergarten enjoyed Physical Education and Music today.
