Wednesday Oct. 23: Pattern Assessment

Table One: Creating a pattern using stamps

Table Two: Replicating and extending a pattern using shapes

Table Three: Creating a pattern using blocks

Table Four: Creating a pattern using loose parts

Time to show what you know.

Students are excited to share their patterning skills with you!  Students were challenged to replicate, extend and create patterns using a pen and paper assessment.  This was a quiet activity, where students were challenged to work quietly and independently.  This pattern assessment will be sent home for parents to review this week. Celebrate your child's success together and remember that patterning is a skill we continue to reinforce throughout the year through songs, rhymes, actions, art and activities.

Students celebrated their awesome patterning skills with some dancing.  Awesome job kindergarten!

PM students enjoyed a community sharing circle this afternoon.  Students acted out one of their favourite activities.  Can you guess which student loves to ride their bike, swim, play bey-blades, play nerf guns, look for lady bugs, swing, jump on the trampoline and even ride their unicorn?
 So fun!

Reading books in the cozy cave

Congratulations to the Rock Stars of the day:  AM Kindergarten: Julian and PM Kindergarten: Landon

Thank you Julian for sharing on of your favourite activities "I like to battle my bey-blades and I practice every day".  Julian showed us his toys using the document camera, very cool!  Julian and Mrs. Dennis had a spin off to see whose bey-blade could spin the longest and rock star Julian won by far!  All that practice is playing off.
Landon thank you for sharing something special about yourself with PM kindergarten.  Landon enjoys "riding his bike and playing bey-blades with Jace and Haley".  Landon gave his classmates a super cool demonstration of his bey-blade "GX".  Landon received many complements and answered many eager questions.  Thank you rock start Landon!

PM kindergarten would like to wish Gracie a very Happy Birthday!  Students sang to Gracie and are all looking forward to Gracie's party.  Gracie said she likes to celebrate with "vanilla cake".
PM students went to library this afternoon.  Students who returned books have 2 books to share with you at home.  If your child has an overdue book(s) please send it with you child to school as soon as possible.  Thank you so much.

Our shared reading today, That's Not Fair.  Students discussed what it means to share and be fair.

We could use your help! We are looking for a few pumpkins for next weeks learning activities. Students will have an opportunity to explore and investigate a variety of pumpkins and of coarse dig out some wonderful seeds to count and even plant. If you would like to donate a pumpkin to AM or PM kindergarten, please send it with your child to school by Monday.  We are looking for a variety of pumpkins to explore and investigate so if you do have one to spare, we will gladly accept any size, shape, colour or texture.  Thank you so much!
