Kindergarten started their day with table time rotations
Congratulations to today's amazing Rock Stars.
Jean-Phillipe shared that he was born in Canada and that he speaks English. He traced one of his favourite letters, S. Jean-Phillipe's name is very special, he is named after his Great Grandpa / Pépère. Jean-Phillipe is really looking forward to his special family tradition of watching movies together on Christmas Eve. He likes the one with Santa and his Elves and when the sled crashes. How fun!
PM Rock Star Gracie shared her family flag from England and that she speaks English at home. She is getting excited for her fun family tradition of finding the pickle on Christmas morning. Whoever finds the pickle, hiding in the Christmas tree, gets to hand out the gifts. PM kindergarten has their fingers crossed for you Gracie. Good luck finding the Christmas pickle!
Our learning job
Today students drew two objects using their knowledge of basic shapes, a house and a tree. Students worked with snap cube templates to measure how tall each object was. Students coloured their snap cubes and recorded how many blocks tall their house and tree were. Mrs. Dennis loves labels so of coarse students had the chance to label objects as taller or shorter. Then Mrs. Dennis challenged each student with a word problem:
Your house is ____ blocks tall and your tree is _____ blocks tall. Will your tree fit inside your house? How do you know?
It is so exciting to see many students using comparative reasoning and justifying their answers using their snap cubes and understanding of numbers. Great job kindergarten!

"No my tree can't fit because 8 is a bigger number than 6." |
